When you think of Israel, many things automatically spring to mind, the most obvious being its incredible history and culture, but also its picturesque beauty.
With these ideals in mind, the owners of Murphys Irish Pub have gone to great lengths to accommodate a similar aesthetic into the heart of their establishment, but with an obvious Irish twist.
General Manager Tommy Danewitz spoke to Irish Pubs Global about the lavishly decorative Murphys Irish Pub in scenic Herzliya.
Tommy started work at Murphys five years ago as a bar tender, worked his way up to shift manager and was recently promoted to the role of general manager; “This pub is quite a place to get into. We have one of the biggest, if not the biggest displays of whiskey on offer, so you learn the ropes pretty fast;” says Tommy.
According to Tommy, Murphys has been established since 2004; “it has a real Irish touch. It is authentic and decorative, with wooden decking outside for the customers due to our location beside the marina. It is beautifully located.”
Until the emergence of Murphys, Irish pubs in the area where non-existent, now there are four Irish pubs within the area, clearly influenced by Murphys success story. The pub has eleven beers on tap, twenty seven types of bottled beers, over one hundred types of whiskey and eight screens showcasing a variety of sports, but what differentiates Murphys from these other Irish pubs is the staff; “All my staff are professional, with a big smile. When it comes to getting the customers to return to the pub, the staff play a big part in that;” says Tommy.
Tommy believes that the success to the pub comes down to its authentic touch and its location. “We’ve had a regular flow of costumers for the pub over the last eight years, with some people coming back once – twice weekly. Again, that’s due to our staff. Also, having a pub inside the marina helps, with the ocean side view and boats etcetera. Basically people really love it. ”
