If you are looking a landmark Irish establishment in the city, then why not try McSorleys, the legendary [...]

Local bar owner hopes to bring new Irish pub to town

Throughout the next few months, Oxford will welcome new restaurants and expand its welcoming dining experience. O’Pub, the reported name of a new Irish pub, will be among the new eateries making its way to Oxford, hopefully within the next few months, according to Alan Kyger, Oxford economic development director. According to Kyger, O’Pub will be located at 10 Park Place West, near Chase Bank. The location,Kyger said, is in a building that has been sitting vacant for a few years since the last business in the building left. “The building where O’Pub will be has been vacant for a little bit of time now,” Kyger said. “If you’re looking at the side of Chase Bank, it is the next business to the right. A long time ago it was Austin’s Floor Store but it’s been vacant for awhile.” According to Kyger, the building underwent renovations around 2009 in which the apartments [...]

O’Sheas to raise final toast to current home on Strip

O'Sheas Casino will end its current existence on the Strip at noon Monday. Roughly 14 hours later, the real action begins. A scaled-down version of O'Sheas will become part of Project Linq. He met Colin through his role in digital display advertising. The pair have converted the first floor into living accommodation and are targeting the building trade. They are trying to attract the dozens of construction workers expected to descend on the area to build the Bexhill link road in the coming months. Colin, who [...]

Eats goes to Molly Flanagan’s in Pass Christian

Pass Christian has a new joint in town -- Molly Flanagan’s has joined the string of quaint and hip restaurants lining Davis Avenue. It’s an Irish pub that now serves 14 imported draft beers, with 89 more on the way to take their place behind the brawny bar. Owner David Farris decided to open the place after tipping his hat to two restaurants in Bay St. Louis. He’s never owned an Irish restaurant before, but he wanted to try something new. When I asked him why Irish, he replied, “Why not?” And I have to agree. My sister and I were joined by her friend Jordyn and as we walked through the corner doors it felt as if our feet were leaving the sidewalks of the Pass and entering the Emerald Isle. The sounds of pipes, fiddles and [...]
