Irish Pubs Global Review Meeting 20th January 2016

Minister for Diaspora Affairs, Jimmy Deenihan, hosted the Irish Pubs Global patrons and member trustees at a 'Round Table' review at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Iveagh House, Dublin on Wednesday 20th January.    2015 Irish Pubs Global Federation activities were reviewed and plans were discussed for 2016 - the highlight of which will be the Global Gathering this September in Dublin of Irish pub owners and managers from around the world.   John McDonald of Mediateam, chaired the meeting which saw many key areas discussed such as staff exchanges between pubs, quality awards, twinning, setting standards, sourcing Irish products and ways to support and help Irish pubs developing their business in different parts of the wold.   Minister Deenihan complimented the fact that Tourism Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and Bord Bia, three leading government agencies, are patrons [...]

Not long to go to Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair 2016

With a few short weeks to go until the doors open, the final line up for the popular Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair at the Convention Centre Dublin has been revealed.  The three day event, which is now in its 4th year, will host the best of Irish and International craft breweries and distilleries from Friday 5th – Sunday 7th February 2016.  Last year more than 10,000 people attended the event which hosted craft producers from 24 countries worldwide.

Food and Drink Exports Continue to Grow

Bord Bia has presented its review of food and drink exports for 2015 and an outlook for the year ahead. For the year it is estimated that the value of Irish food and drink exports increased by 3% to exceed €10.8 billion for the first time. The food and drink sector recorded its sixth consecutive year of export growth in 2015 as increased output in key sectors, favourable exchange rate developments and better returns for beef, seafood and beverages, helped to offset a considerable weakening in global dairy prices. Minister for Health Leo Varadkar welcomes ‘Responsible sale and service of alcohol for the tourism, hospitality and retail industries’ publication

Health Minister Leo Varadkar TD welcomed the ‘Responsible sale and service of alcohol for the tourism, hospitality and retail industries’ book at a special ceremony held at the Dublin Institute of Technology, School of Culinary Arts & Food Technology. In his speech the Minister stated that the ‘Government was committed to tackling the issue of alcohol use in Ireland and the widespread harm and pain it causes adding that the Public Health (Alcohol) Bill which was published recently is the most far-reaching proposed by any Irish Government, with alcohol being addressed for the first time as a public health measure.
