Quintessential Brands Group raises €28 million for the Dublin Liberties Whiskey Distillery

Quintessential Brands has announced a major investment in the Dublin Liberties Distillery Company including new banking facilities. It has agreed an €18.3 million investment by Stock Spirits Group PLC in return for a 25% equity interest in Quintessential Brands Irish Whiskey Limited (“QBIW”). QBIW owns The Dublin Liberties and The Dubliner Irish Whiskey brands and last year announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art whiskey distillery and visitor experience in the Liberties area of Dublin. As part of the total €28 million investment in QBIW, a new comprehensive €10 million banking facility has been completed with Wells Fargo Bank. Stock Spirits Group is a leading owner and producer of premium branded spirits and liqueurs that are principally sold in Central and Eastern Europe. Tir na nOg Irish Pub in Denmark has expanded

Tir na nOg Aarhus now has two new rooms; The Tap Room and The Merchant Room. The Tap Room is the renovated version of the old bar, and The Merchant Room is a completely new space, double the size of The Tap Room, with different areas and innovative proposals for a wider public as a coffee station or a barber shop. It all started years ago, when Andreas Ruigrok was celebrating both his 18th birthday and St. Patrick’s Day, sharing a couple of beers with his father, who’s from Dublin, in an Irish bar in Aarhus. He asked if they were looking for staff, and fleetingly began working there as a dishwasher. Who will be Ireland’s top Foodie Destination for 2017?

Last week, The Restaurants Association of Ireland announced the Top Ten finalists for the ‘Foodie Destinations’ competition 2017. The competition aims to celebrate Ireland’s unique and wonderful food offerings and to encourage local food tourism initiatives across the country. An independent panel of judges determined the 10 finalists from entry submissions. The top ten this year are Boyne Valley (last year’s winner); Cong; Galway’s Westend; Kilkenny; Kinsale; Loop Head; Monaghan, Sligo, West Cork, and West Waterford. In the next stage of the competition each will receive a visit from two impartial assessors, and voting is also open to the public. Both will carry equal weight in deciding Ireland’s top foodie destination 2017. The winner of the best Gin and Tonic in Ireland has been revealed

Ireland’s best gin & tonic has been voted by the public and the results are in. The Irish Gin & Tonic Fest ran across all 32 counties from June 26th to July 1st. A total of 227 venues took part, each creating their own signature gin & tonic with one of the 15 Irish gins that were involved.  The public was invited to vote for their favourite #IrishGnT on Twitter or by posting on the Great Irish Beverages Facebook page. An Púcán in Galway have been voted as the 2017 winners. Their Irish Gin & Tonic was made with Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin from The Shed Distillery in Leitrim, fresh red chilli & mango along with Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water.
