Paddy Barry’s Irish Restaurant and Pub celebrates three year anniversary

Situated in Tysons Corner, Virginia, Brendan Barry and his wife Susan opened Paddy Barry’s on 16th September 2014. Brendan met Susan in an Irish pub in his hometown of Waterford as she was touring Ireland in August 2008, so they have a strong affinity to Irish Pubs and everything Irish. The pair later married in November 2009 and settled in Arlington, Virginia. Brendan very much appreciates his Irish roots and Susan has embraced the Irish culture and humour to the extent that when the opportunity arose to buy an Irish Pub & Restaurant in August 2014, she was very much the driving force. The National Food and Drink Conference and Exhibition takes place tomorrow in Citywest

The National Food and Drink Conference and Exhibition, the largest gathering of food industry professionals in Ireland, takes place on the 13th September in the Citywest Convention Centre, Dublin. The annual event will welcome 3,000 food industry professionals, 200 speakers and 170 exhibitors to discuss the key issues facing the industry. Irish Spirits Association hosts inaugural meeting of Ireland’s gin producers

The Irish Spirits Association recently hosted the inaugural meeting of Ireland’s gin producers. Recent figures suggest that gin has grown by 31.6% year-on-year in on-trade value to reach €74 million. Mirroring this, preliminary figures from the CSO suggest that 2017 may see a significant and unprecedented increase in exports of gin from Ireland. This new group will provide a strong voice for one of Ireland’s fastest growing sectors. The inaugural meeting provided a forum to scope out key issues affecting the sector. The group agreed that their number one priority was to support the creation of a legally-recognised standard for Irish Gin. Pat Rigney, Managing Director of The Shed Distillery has been elected chair of the new group.
