Irish Pubs Global Federation launches Gathering 2018 Event plans

Yesterday, Tuesday 27th February, Irish Pubs Global Federation announced plans for its 2018 Gathering Event at an event in 1520 Bar on Quay Street in Galway City. The 2018 Irish Pubs Global Gathering is to take place in Galway from 7th – 9th October and will include a conference for up to 500 international operators of Irish Pubs, food & drink tours and the annual Irish Pubs Global Awards gala dinner. The theme for this year’s event is “Famous For Food”, highlighting the importance of showcasing Irish food in Irish pubs and restaurants around the world. New sites going green for annual Tourism Ireland Global Greening initiative

Tourism Ireland has announced details of the famous attractions and sites around the world which will go green to mark St. Patrick’s Day this year. The annual initiative has grown from strength to strength, with a host of major landmarks around the world turning green each year to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. This year, over 300 stadiums, statues, museums and towers are set to go green to celebrate Ireland’s national day. Joining the initiative for the first time this year are the fountains in London’s iconic Trafalgar Square, Chimo the Polar Bear statue in Ontario and the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao – the home of Athletic Club Bilbao. Irish Pub in the Fleetenkieker Featured in Food for Thought

Ariel Sanecki of Adare Manor Hotel named National Cocktail Champion 2018

The annual National Cocktail Championships & Bartender Awards took place on Tuesday 6th & Wednesday 7th February at Food & Bev Live in Citywest, Dublin. Organised by the Bartenders Association of Ireland and sponsored by Edward Dillon & Co. Ltd, the event saw forty-two bartenders compete over the two days. Winner of the top award of National Cocktail Champion 2018 was Mr. Ariel Sanecki of Adare Manor Hotel, with his cocktail ‘Japanese Garden’. The cocktail consisted of 40ml Star of Bombay Gin, 20ml Sake, 20ml Matcha Green Tea Syrup, 10ml Yuzu Puree, 20ml Fresh Lime Juice and 50ml Rice Milk all shaken together and decoratively presented to the judges. Ariel will now go on to represent Ireland at the World Cocktail Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, 1st - 6th October 2018. McGettigan’s announce Kodaline as headline act for St. Patrick’s Day

McGettigan’s Irish bars are hosting their second annual Paddy’s Day festival on Friday March 16th in Dubai, with Kodaline booked to be the headline act. Made up of Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergrast, Jason Boland and Vincent May, Kodaline are one of Ireland’s biggest bands and one of the hottest emerging talents internationally. Jameson reveals annual St. Patrick’s Day Bottle for 2018

Jameson Irish whiskey has kicked off St. Patrick’s Day for 2018 with its seventh annual limited-edition bottle design. For this year’s design, Jameson has collaborated with a group of artists, representing the bravery, unity and opportunities that are possible when friends come together. The design process was led by Irish illustrator Claudine O’Sullivan, who recruitied two of her close friends from different creative fields to form a collective to curate the label. Irish photographer Leonn Ward and British designer, Alex Mellon, joined O’Sullivan, resulting in a design that celebrates the openness and spirit of friendship that Ireland is renowned for. The bottle is inspired by the Fianna; mythological Irish warriors known for valuing loyalty and bravery – the foundation of every strong friendship.
