The Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair was a huge success with 350+ pub owners from across Ireland and across the world coming to attend the event that featured 45 breweries and 17 artisan food companies and a full programme of speakers to get the best out of your pub.

The event featured three emcee’s, notably Pat Nolan, Editor of Drinks Industry Ireland; Oliver Hughes, The Porterhouse and Dave Magrogan of Kildare’s Irish Pub Group in USA.

Highlights included a speaker from Johnnie Fox’s on ‘Creating a Destination Pub’ from a brand that is bucking the trend of many rural pubs, and, has seen increased profits by 9.7% last year, despite its isolated location. Reuben Gray, chair of Beoir delivered a fascinating speech on the rise of Craft Beer, from their records pubs selling craft beer in Irleand has risen from 27 in 2010 to 559 pubs in 2014.

Adrian Cummins, Chair of the Restaurant Association of Ireland captured the audiences attention with a talk on Menu Engineering and Food Tourism, wowing us with the fact that in 2012 Irish Food Tourism brought in 9,000 visitors to the country and tips on how to capture this elusive market.

John Geraghty of Publin had some interesting ideas and was a voice that had real insight into what the consumer actually wants. Fionuala Lennon, ‘The Pub Design Doctor,’ showed some case studies of pubs that had been transformed using simple design tricks. The two day pub series ended with a toast from everyone in the audience with Dr. Pearse Lyons and the event carried on with a trade-show with sensory lounges and entertainment.
