Auckland Irish Pubs Global Gathering 2012

Wednesday 21st March 2012 marked the very first Irish Pubs Global Gathering in New Zealand.

The event, held at BNZ Partners Business Centre in Auckland, gathered owners, managers and leading industry professionals together to forge stronger ties and bring the global network closer together.

Both Patrick Gallagher of and Eamon Eastwood of Taste Ireland also attended via Skype. Video contributions were made by Irish Pubs Global Chapter Presidents Nigel Sutton of Bubbles O’ Leary’s Pub in Uganda, Conchur deBarra of the Six Nations Pub in Brussels and Dave Magrogan of Kildare’s Irish Pubs in Philidephia.

Other guests in attendance were the Honorary Consul General of Ireland, Rodney Walshe, who outlined the board success of Irish pubs in New Zealand along with John Heverin, of Ól Irish Design & Build, who disclosed a wealth of information on developing trends for Irish pubs and successful operational models used.

In developing the New Zealand Chapter, Billy Walsh kindly agreed to be a contact coordinator for owners within New Zealand. A founding board comprised of pub owners Noel Quinlivan of The Clare Inn, Phil Hogan of Murphy’s Law and Geoff Tuttle of Danny Doolan’s was also established.

As the meeting drew to a close, a strong interest was expressed in a future Irish Pubs Global gathering, set to take place in Dublin.
