Barry’s Tea has joined up with Blackwater Distillery to introduce the limited edition Blackwater Barry’s Tea Irish Gin to the Irish market.

The exciting combination of the family-owned tea business, which has been a mainstay of Irish homes for over 100 years, and the Waterford-based gin distillery, sees a limited number of bottles of the new product being available from November.

The new gin, which uses Barry’s Tea Classic Blend, Sicilian lemons, sweet Spanish oranges, juniper berries and cinnamon, was created by the micro distillery based on the banks of the Blackwater River.

Blackwater Distillery is known for producing everything by hand, and creating the Blackwater No.5 Gin, which recently won gold at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London.

Barry’s Tea Master Blender, Denis Daly, said “This is an exciting and once off opportunity for all of us at Barry’s Tea. The chance to work with an Irish gin brand is something Barry’s Tea is proud of, and ties in perfectly to our long standing Irish heritage.”

Peter Mulryan, Co-founder of Blackwater Distillery, said “We’ve won many international awards for our gin, but the opportunity to partner with Barry’s Tea is definitely something we couldn’t pass up. I was experimenting with some different flavours and discovered that Barry’s Tea gives the gin some nice, spicy notes

when distilled. While there are certain cocktails that pair gin and tea, I believe this is the first time they have ever been distilled together. Really, it is a celebration of Ireland’s tea heritage.”

The Blackwater Barry’s Tea Gin will be available in Irish retailers nationwide this November, at a RRP of €35.
