The Dead Rabbit bar in New York City reopened on Thursday 19th July, after being damaged in a fire on the morning of July 1st. Thankfully the fire was discovered quickly and nobody was injured in the incident.
According to the pub’s Facebook page, the building received considerable fire and water damage. The fire destroyed the pub’s kitchen and badly affected some of the back of house areas, with water and smoke damage elsewhere.
Updating customers and fans on Facebook throughout their progress, they announced on 5th July that the team were working to reopen the pub on July 12th and true to their word they reopened last Thursday. As they are still without a full kitchen, they are currently offering a summer menu of cold plates and salads.
Congratulations to the entire Dead Rabbit team for getting back up and running so quickly! Team work at its very best! Dead Rabbit have been nominated for Best Cocktail Experience and Best Marketing Campaign in the 2018 Irish Pubs Global Awards, following their win for Best Cocktail Experience in last year’s awards. Bartender Brooke Smith has also been shortlisted for Best Bar Person, after winning the global award for Best Bar Person in the 2017 awards.
