In a genius marketing move, P.J.O’Briens Pub in Southbank, Melbourne, Australia, who recently won an award for Best Guinness in Australia 2013-2014 from Guinness themselves, have come up with a perfectly timed alternative to the Arthur’s Day celebrations this year.
Guinness released a statement earlier this summer announcing they were replacing the Arthur’s Day celebrations this year and would be running the Guinness Amplify event in its place; a series of over 500 live music gigs around Ireland for September through to October.
As the date of Arthur’s Day fell half way to St. Patrick’s Day, the team at P.J. O’Briens have come up with a “Halfway to St.Patrick’s Day Celebration”.
Aoife Reilly, General Manager at P.J.O’Briens, Southbank told us: “We run Guinness as a Beer of the Month for September at $7.50 a pint in the build up to half way to Paddys. On the actual day we have live music from 6pm with the bad penguins “an Irish duo”, we offer complimentary mini beef & Guinness pies and complimentary mini Guinness. Our Mr. Pint man comes out to greet everyone and we have a great little party”.
The event kicks of at 6pm this Friday 19th September for anyone in the area. It’s a brilliant idea and we wish all involved the very best of luck!
