Scholars Lounge Rome Scoops Top Prize at Irish Pubs Global Awards 2017

Scholars Lounge in Rome took the top prize and was crowned Global Pub of the Year last night following 16,000 public nominations and analysis from an expert judging panel. 400 Irish publicans from around the world gathered in the Round Room at the Mansion House for the Irish Pubs Global Gala Awards sponsored by Festy.ie. The lifetime achievement award was presented by GRID Finance to the Founder and Chairman of the McGettigan Group, Jim McGettigan. The McGettigan Group has built up an incredibly successful group of Irish pubs across the globe in cities such as New York, Dublin, Dubai and Galway. Kilkenny’s Brian Cody on the menu at Irish Pubs Global Gala Awards Dinner

Kilkenny’s longest standing and most successful hurling manager, Brian Cody, is set to address the Irish Pubs Global Awards on 10th October, in The Round Room at the Mansion House, Dublin. Brian’s professional career as a primary school teacher and principal, combined with his outstanding record on the pitch and on the sideline make him one of Ireland’s most fascinating people management and development practitioners. Chapter One wins Best Restaurant at the Irish Restaurant Awards 2017

The Irish Restaurant Awards 2017 took place at the The Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin, this month and named the top restaurants in Ireland for 2017. The black tie event, attended by over 900 restaurateurs and staff, was a celebration of the hard work and achievements within the industry over the last 12 months. Guests were treated to a lavish six course gala dinner prepared by a team of five chefs. The Awards Chef Team is hand-picked by the Restaurants Association each year and is made up of winning chefs from the previous year’s awards with each Chef representing a region of Ireland. Chapter One restaurant in Dublin was named as the 2017 All-Ireland Best Restaurant while Danni Barry of Deanes EPIC, Antrim took home the 2017 All-Ireland Best Chef title. Knappogue Castle 14 Year Old Twin Wood Awarded Irish Whiskey of the Year 2016

Knappogue Castle 14 Year Old Twin Wood has been named the Irish Whiskey of the Year at the 2016 Irish Whiskey Awards. The label was also the overall winner in the Irish Single Malts Whiskey (13 years and older) category. The Irish Whiskey Awards, which are in their fourth year, recognise the excellence and innovation from indigenous producers and distillers. The awards spanned a total of 20 categories, including recognition of the best in Irish gin, Irish vodka, Irish liqueur, craft beer and Whiskey Bar of the Year. The Irish Single Malt Whiskey (12 Years & Younger) category was won by Dunvilles PX Single Malt and Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength took home the trophy in the Irish Single Pot Stills category. Teeling Small Batch got the nod for best Irish Blended Whiskey (RRP of less than €60) with Midleton Very Rare receiving the top accolade for the Irish [...]

Irish Craft Cocktail Awards 2015

On Sunday 6th December The 2nd Annual Irish Craft Cocktail Awards were held at The Odeon, Harcourt Street. Over 200 attendees from the craft cocktail and drinks industry gathered to celebrate the achievements of individuals and establishments from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The not-for-profit awards were created in 2014 for the benefit of the Irish cocktail industry by the cocktail industry, by co-founders Kevin Hurley, Robert Caldwell, and Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan. The Irish Craft Cocktail Awards aim to celebrate the skill, training, uniqueness and artistry of craft cocktail concoction in Ireland. In 2015 Alan Kavanagh joined the committee, in addition to regional ambassadors. Jameson Experience Midleton wins ‘Ultimate Ambassador Award’ for its contribution to Cork tourism

The Jameson Experience Midleton (JEM) has won the ‘Ultimate Ambassador Award’ at the second annual #CorkNeedsYou Cork Conference Ambassadors Awards, organised by the Cork Convention Bureau. The prestigious ceremony paid special tribute to the JEM for its contribution to Cork tourism, having welcomed 125,000 visitors to the visitor centre in the past year.  The ‘Ultimate Ambassador Award’ recognised the unparalleled economic and tourism benefits the JEM team delivered to Cork over the past 12 months. Last year, it welcomed 125,000 visitors from around the world, with the top five nationalities being USA, France, Germany, Britain and domestic visitors from Ireland. This shows a 5% increase in figures from 2014. Irish Food Companies Honoured at Bord Bia Awards

The achievements of eight Irish food companies were recognised at the Bord Bia Food and Drink Awards in Dublin’s Mansion House. The Awards, held every two years, reward excellence within the Irish food and drink industry across eight categories – Branding, Consumer Insight, Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Exporting, Innovation, Success at Home and Sustainability. Over 300 industry representatives from Ireland’s leading food and drink companies gathered for the ceremony, where they also heard from guest speaker, Joe Schmidt, the Irish Rugby Team’s Head Coach who provided his insight into leadership and teamwork. Irish Whiskey Awards Winners 2015

Redbreast 21 Year-Old Whiskey has been named the Irish Whiskey of the Year at the Irish Whiskey Awards for the second year running. The whiskey, which is distilled in Midleton, Co Cork, was awarded the Glencairn Trophy at the ceremony, which took place in the Teeling Distillery, Newmarket, Dublin 8 on 15th October 2015. The label was also the trophy winner in the Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey category for the second year in a row. The Irish Whiskey Awards, which are in their third year, recognise the excellence and innovation from indigenous producers and distillers. GUINNESS STOREHOUSE IS NAMED EUROPE’S LEADING TOURIST ATTRACTION

The GUINNESS STOREHOUSE® has been named ‘Europe’s leading tourist attraction’ in the prestigious World Travel Awards. Hailed as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry,’ and decided by an open vote, the award was presented to the Guinness Storehouse on Saturday night at the European Gala Ceremony in Forte Village, Sardinia which was attended by hundreds of tourism and hospitality leaders from across the world.  Shortlisted alongside some of Europe's most historic and recognisable attractions including: the Acropolis, Athens; Buckingham Palace, England; La Sagrada Familia, Spain; Ribeira do Porto, Portugal; the Roman Colosseum, Italy and the Eiffel Tower, France; it was Ireland's top tourist spot that won the largest public vote.
