O’Hara’s Releases 8th Edition of Award-Winning Barrel Aged Series

O’Hara’s Brewery has announced the release of the 8th edition in its award-winning Barrel Aged Series: Leann Folláin. The stout has been aged in first fill American bourbon oak barrels supplied by The Dublin Liberties Irish Whiskey Distillery, based in the heart of Dublin 8. Commenting on the new release, Seamus O’Hara, Founder and CEO of O'Hara's Brewery said "Our Barrel Aged Series has won a lot of awards over the years and developed a bit of a cult following. The only downside is that it has created very high expectations! Some people might think it risky to mess around with Leann Folláin which is such a good beer in its own right but my philosophy is that while you can never be 100% certain what the barrel ageing process will do to a beer, if you put a great [...]

Commercial Leases – I Want to Break Free

Article by: Adam Hogg, Real Estate Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran It is quite common for commercial leases to have clauses entitling the tenant or in some cases, the landlord, to terminate the lease subject to satisfying certain criteria. These are more commonly known as break clauses. From a tenant’s point of view, a break clause is an advantage as it gives it the option of walking away from a potentially long lease and the obligation to pay rent and related outgoings under that lease. This may be crucial in the event of its business not working out as originally planned, or if the tenant has located a premises in a more advantageous location or on better terms. Compliance with the terms of the break clause within the lease is critical. It is important that the terms of the lease [...]

Introducing Our New Brand

Dear Members & Friends, It was a great pleasure to be able to announce our rebranding to Irish Hospitality Global at the Gathering 2018, our recent annual conference and awards ceremony in Galway. After 8 years of the federation being known as Irish Pubs Global we felt the time was right to review the brand against an ever changing and highly competitive world. Our decision to rebrand as Irish Hospitality Global is a strategic response to the decline in the numbers of Irish pubs and bars that we are seeing around the world. Our key belief is what makes the Irish Pub different to it's competitors is not just the unique physical product we produce but the brilliant welcoming experience that customers get when they come through the doors. That WELCOME and clear focus on giving the customer a great personal experience [...]

Aside from keeping your customers happy, you need to keep an eye on your employee operations, such as: Keeping compliant with labour laws & GDPR Managing contracts and employee documents Tracking employee holidays and time off Keeping Labour costs to a minimum Hit Sales & Labour spend targets Managing daily checks Paying staff correctly In some cases, an owner must do this for multiple locations, leaving them blindsided, and unknowingly haemorrhaging money into their labour [...]

Guinness launches new ‘Switch to Pub Mode’ campaign

This September, Guinness, together with the publicans of Ireland, is celebrating the magic of quality catch ups with friends in the pub with a new initiative called ‘Switch to Pub Mode’. Guinness carried out a study to coincide with the launch, which looked into the impact of phone usage on a night out with friends. The study was conducted by Behaviour & Attitudes and explored the quality of a night out with friends [...]
