5 Star Shane Treacy appointed as Managing Director at Mercantile Entertainment Group

Survey shows more than half of Irish natives visit Irish pubs when travelling abroad

According to a survey conducted by Amárach Research, more than half (55%) of native Irish people visit Irish pubs when travelling abroad. The survey, conducted among 1,000 people, was commissioned by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI) to track sentiment towards Ireland’s drinks and hospitality sector. The survey also showed that nearly two thirds (63%) of people celebrate family occasions like birthday parties, communions and christenings in the local pub, restaurant or hotel. 47% of people associate their local pub with ‘socialising’, 48% with a ‘friendly atmosphere’ and almost one in five (19%) with tradition.
