The best Irish Pubs are a premium hospitality experience

Here’s something that not many people know… The initial concept of Irish Pubs Global was formed from conversations at the Irish Economic Forum at Dublin Castle in 2010. Much of our young, talented workforce were forced to immigrate to locations all around the world to secure employment as the global recession bit hard here in Ireland. So much talent, culture and soul went with them and the country wanted to reach out to them, to keep them connected to their homeland and to encourage them to come home to visit or return to live once again. It was known that many of the Diaspora would spend time in their local Irish pub wherever they settled in the world but as independent businesses, the Irish pub sector was diverse, scattered and disconnected from one another and in many cases from Ireland. Competition: Win an iconic symbol of Irish culture and heritage with the Irish Telephone Box Company.

There was a time when communication was not so simple.  Recent generations have become accustomed to instant real time information, while unaware of a more simplistic era.  For many years the Irish public relied upon the local “Telefon” Box as their only means of communication with the outside world. The first “Telefon” box was installed as far back as 1925 and to this day it can be found on Dawson Street, Dublin.  In 1932 the boxes were fitted throughout Dublin in response to the Catholic Eucharistic Congress which helped celebrate the 1,500th year of St. Patrick’s arrival to Ireland.  The increased popularity from this event led to their installation throughout the length and breadth of the island.  The boxes were modernised in later years but it is the old iconic boxes with the unmistakable “Telefon” branding that has a place [...]

Pub Spotlight: Temple Bar, Bolzano

Winner of The Most Authentic Irish Pub outside of Ireland, Temple Bar, located in the north Italian town of Bolzano, has remained true to its identity as a Genuine Irish Pub from the day it opened its doors. What is the history of the pub? Temple Bar started pulling its pints in October 2006 after completing the transformation of an old Tea and Hot Chocolate bar in the historical centre of the old town. Bolzano is a city where there are two languages spoken, German and Italian, so by opening a pub where we only spoke English it immediately appealed to all who appreciate the idea of a true intercultural/national bar. The goal when opening the bar was to remain true to our beliefs of what an Irish Pub should be, a Home from Home for all. Throughout the years [...]

Supplier Spotlight: GizaGig – Revolutionising the live entertainment experience

GizaGig is a revolutionary live entertainment booking and management system. Offered free to pubs and bars, it will allow you to book bands and entertainers instantly and in real time. It will also allow you to manage those bookings. Think of it as Hotels.com, Tripadvisor, and a marketing agency all rolled into one, but for live entertainment. Based in Navan, Co. Meath, GizaGig was born out of the frustrations experienced by founder Cathal Dolan. Working as both a booker for bars and a musician, he found the process of arranging bookings to be inefficient and outdated. Unlike reserving a flight or hotel room, that takes only a few minutes and a few clicks, arranging a band can take multiple phone calls and a lot of time. This process will be consigned to the past with the launch of GizaGig in [...]

Pub Spotlight: Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub in Savannah, Georgia

Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub opened its doors at midnight on Friday, October 31st 1980 and has since become one of Savannah Georgia’s favorite traditions! Vic Power, who hails originally from New York and is a second generation Irishman, grew up listening to the history of Ireland from his father and grandfather who were both from Waterford, Ireland.  Mr. Power became a restaurateur who wanted to share his love of Irish history and music by opening up a “little Irish joint” where “good Irish music” could be heard 7 nights a week.     Mr. Power had a simple vision: Providing locals and visiting guests from around the world excellent customer service, fine spirits, and quality food in a traditional Irish pub setting with an inviting Old World charm.   Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub honors our military members past and present while [...]
