Bia Mara opens in Antwerp

Urban Seafood Kitchen - to open location no.3 From a stall at Dublin’s Market, to Brussels via London and now Antwerp; the last few years have been a rollercoaster ride for Dublin natives Barry Wallace and Simon Whiteside. Their success with Bia Mara is testament to their hard work and belief in their brilliant product: An urban seafood kitchen where a wide range of fish is available - over 50 combinations on offer. Irish Bar for sale

Munster Bar in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France, is for sale. Munster Bar opened in December 2006 and has established itself as one of Chamonix’s favourite bars. The go to bar for Rugby, especially the 6 Nations and currently the World Cup. Plus Premiership and European soccer, and of course the GAA. There is a busy programme of live music in winter.  It currently operates during the busy winter ski season and for 3 months in the Summer. It is the only Irish bar in the area, the nearest others are 100km away in Geneva. The bar is fully equipped and ready to go, decked out in dark wood. 150 jobs to be created by Rye River Brewing in new craft brewery and visitor centre

150 new jobs are to be based in a new state of the art craft brewery and visitor centre created by beer and cider business The Rye River Brewing Company in Celbridge, Co Kildare, in what will be the biggest independent brewery in Ireland. The new jobs will be created over three years and along with the investment of €4m into the new plant and visitor centre will be worth an extra €12.5m to the local economy. The new positions will be spread across manufacturing, customer service, brewing, export, general operatives and management whilst up to 100 jobs will be generated in the construction of the new brewery plant and visitor centre which is hoped to open in late Spring 2016, subject to planning. Tullamore D.E.W. celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Tullamore Distillery

William Grant & Sons Ltd., the independent, family-owned distiller and owner of Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey, celebrates one year since the laying down of 22,392 casks, which are quietly maturing, at its state-of-the-art whiskey distillery in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. These production capabilities are set to double in 2016 with the addition of six new fermenters and two new pot stills over the coming months. From the 16-18 September, the one-year anniversary was celebrated in True Character style, with international journalists treated to pub & culture tours, a visit around the Distillery, and even lessons in hurling and fly fishing. Second distillery has begun production at The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk

Three mighty copper pot stills, Fionn, Oisin and Setanta, have started to distil on the Dundalk site.  These stills have a capacity to make 18 million bottles of whiskey a year.  They will make a full range of single malt, peated malt and pot still whiskeys.  This is the second distillery on the former Harp Brewery site.  The columns have been producing grain whiskey for the past month.  The total capacity of the two distilleries is 50 million bottles a year. Both distilleries will supply “New Fill” to distillers in the rapidly growing Irish whiskey category as well as making whiskey for their own use.  Great Northern Distillery (GND) owns the famous “Burkes” and “Skylark” brands. GND is owned by the Teeling family, Jim Finn and David Hynes.

Restaurants Association of Ireland Have Announced Ireland’s Top Ten ‘Foodie Towns’ Finalists

The Restaurants Association of Ireland have announced their top 10 finalists in the ‘Foodie Towns’ competition 2015. In the search for Ireland’s premier food destination, applications from all over the country were thoroughly assessed and narrowed down by an independent panel of judges. There was some tough competition this year, but based on the applications received, the top ten ‘Foodie Towns’ of Ireland in 2015 are as follows: Boyne Valley Derry Dungarvan Howth Kilkenny Kinsale Loop Head Peninsula Sligo The Burren West Cork Each of the ten finalists will now receive a pre-arranged visit by a pair of independent assessors in the coming weeks. This assessment will be combined with a national public voting campaign where the public can choose their winning foodie destination out of the ten finalists – this can be done through www.foodietowns.ie. Guinness launches Guinness Golden Ale

Guinness has launched Guinness Golden Ale, the latest release from The Brewers Project, St James’s Gate, Dublin. Named after its distinctive golden colour, Guinness Golden Ale is brewed using Guinness yeast, Irish Barley, the finest hops, and a specially selected amber malt that gives the new beer its rich golden hue. Tourism Ireland ‘Brewing up’ interest in Irish food and drink

Four Scandinavian journalists were sampling some of Ireland's finest craft beers and culinary delights last week. They were here, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, to experience the superb food and drink on offer in Ireland – so they will spread the word to their readers upon their return home. The visiting journalists write for a variety of publications – including popular lifestyle magazines, a broadsheet newspaper and a gastronomy blog, which have a combined readership of more than one million readers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. In Cork, the group visited the English Market and the Franciscan Well Brewery, before moving on to Kinsale, where they met with husband-and-wife team Sam and Maudeline Black, of Blacks of Kinsale. Kilshanny House, Co. Clare

Kilshanny House, run by Mary and Aidan, is located in the Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark region on the Wild Atlantic Way in Kilshanny Village, Co Clare. It is a place with a long history whispering in the raw and beautiful limestone rocks that makes out the foundation and structure of the house. The first stone was laid in the early nineteenth century and in 1860 the house stood ready to let time, people, paint and changing businesses pass through up until the day Aidan took over and reopened it as a pub.
