Competition: Win an iconic symbol of Irish culture and heritage with the Irish Telephone Box Company.

There was a time when communication was not so simple.  Recent generations have become accustomed to instant real time information, while unaware of a more simplistic era.  For many years the Irish public relied upon the local “Telefon” Box as their only means of communication with the outside world. The first “Telefon” box was installed as far back as 1925 and to this day it can be found on Dawson Street, Dublin.  In 1932 the boxes were fitted throughout Dublin in response to the Catholic Eucharistic Congress which helped celebrate the 1,500th year of St. Patrick’s arrival to Ireland.  The increased popularity from this event led to their installation throughout the length and breadth of the island.  The boxes were modernised in later years but it is the old iconic boxes with the unmistakable “Telefon” branding that has a place [...]

Supplier Spotlight: Naturally Cordial

The Irish soft drinks market has been fairly stagnant for some time with “innovation” being the preserve of the large multinational soft drinks manufacturers. There is only so much colas, lemonades and orangeades that a customer can possibly drink on an alcohol-free night out or with the family for lunch. Thankfully there is now a refreshing Irish range of non-alcohol adult drinks or mixers for mocktails. Check out Naturally Cordial’s range of delicious craft cordials. Made in Wexford, all their cordials are made from Irish soft fruit and organic citrus fruit. Whilst following a traditional recipe that uses only water, fruit, sugar and a tiny amount of citric acid, Naturally Cordial reduced the sugar content by 50% to allow the natural fruit flavours to come to the fore.   Flavours include the Blas na hEireann Finalists Lemon&Raspberry (2014); Wexford Blackcurrant (2015), [...]
