Introducing three new Irish whiskeys from Powerscourt Distillery

Fercullen Irish Whiskey The new Powerscourt Distillery in Co Wicklow has proudly unveiled its three new Irish whiskeys under the brand name Fercullen; Fercullen 14-Year Old Single Malt, Fercullen 10-Year-Old Single Grain and Fercullen Premium Blend Irish. With the release overseen by award winning Irish whiskey legend, Master Distiller Noel Sweeney, the three opening expressions form part of a planned portfolio of premium Irish whiskeys to be launched by the Powerscourt Distillery. Prizefight Irish Whiskey Launches in Dublin

Prizefight is a collaborative Irish whiskey, distilled and aged in Ireland, and finished in American rye casks from Tamworth Distilling. The result is incredibly complex whiskey: a smooth and mellow spirit that packs a punch but never burns. Pugilist Spirit’s Flor Prendergast wanted to create an Irish whiskey, so he called upon spirits maverick Steven Grasse, who came up with an idea for something new — a fine Irish whiskey finished in American rye casks. Making this idea a reality required collaboration between two craft distillers: one in Ireland, and the other in America. So, they reached out to West Cork Distilling to create the whiskey, and Grasse’s own distillery, Tamworth Distilling in New Hampshire to arrange the finishing. The Dublin Liberties Copper Alley 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey Launches

The Dublin Liberties Copper Alley is a 10 Year Old Single Malt, finished in 30 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Casks, hand-selected by Master Distiller, Darryl McNally. The Dublin Liberties Copper Alley joins The Dublin Liberties Oak Devil as the second expression in the range of Premium Irish Whiskies. The Limited Release whiskey is double barrelled, with 10 years in Bourbon casks and finished in 30 year old Oloroso Sherry casks for six months. There are only 31 Sherry casks of this unique whiskey which is non chill-filtered and bottled at 46%. Jameson launch ‘Bottle Your Own’ whiskey facility at the Old Jameson Distillery Dublin

Earlier this month, Jameson launched their new 'Bottle Your Own' whiskey facility at the Old Jameson Distillery, Dublin. The new initiative, which also launches at the Jameson Experience Midleton this month, offers Jameson lovers a unique personalised premium whiskey experience. Whiskey fans start by selecting a 700ml bottle, and once filled, consumers personalise their own bottle label with their name, the date, the number of the cask, the bottle number and the alcohol strength before placing the label carefully on the bottle and creating their own completely exclusive bottle of Jameson Select Reserve Cask Strength Black Barrel. Winners of the Dubliner Whiskey Cocktail Challenge at the Gathering 2015

‘West Dubliner’, ‘Arre…Bless’ and ‘Morning Joyce’ emerged the three winners of the best original cocktail recipes based on Dubliner liqueur whiskey at the recent Irish Pubs Global Gathering event at the National Convention Centre. The three cocktail creations were deamed up by Michael Woods of St Judes GAA Club in Dublin, James Halligan of the Forty-One cocktail bar and nightclub in Navan and Oisin Kelly of Toners Bar in Lower Baggot Street respectively. A special feature of this year’s IPG Gathering Event the cocktail challenge was sponsored by Dubliner liqueur whiskey. The initiative, between the DIT Bar and Beverage Management Studies, Irish Pubs Global and Dalcassian Spirits and Wines, brought together DIT students in a unique cocktail challenge for all the delegates from over 22 countries. The Irish Whiskey Award Winners 2014

Congratulations to all the 2014 Irish Whiskey Award winners. The diversity and quality of Irish Whiskey were celebrated at the second annual Irish Whiskey Awards, which took place at Kilbeggan Distillery in Co. Westmeath on 23rd October 2014. The event, which was organised by the Celtic Whiskey Shop, showcased and honoured this rapidly growing indigenous Irish Industry over 17 categories. The judging panel consisting of members from the Celtic Whiskey Club and the Irish Whiskey Society chose the winners based on blind tastings.  Redbreast 21 Year Old Whiskey was awarded Overall Best Whiskey 2014 while Dick Mack’s in Dingle won The Whiskey Bar of the Year.
